Rock On Movie Reviews

The story is all about four friends forming a rock band called Magik with Aditya ( Farhan Akhtar) the lead vocalist, Joe ( Arjun Rampal) the guitarist, KD ( Purab Kohli) on the drums and Rob ( Luke Kenny) on the keyboard, out to cut out an album. Something goes awry and the friends who shared the same passion drift away, each leading their own life.

Rock On is a film that not only breaks new ground in terms of its subject matter -- now when has desi movielore ever tackled something akin to Hollywood's That Thing You Do -- it creates a whole new EQ (emotional quotient) for mainstream cinema. Of course, there is the great passion reminiscent of Dil Chahta Hai , but here, there is a poise and a restraint that portrays the friendship between four rock musicians, with all its ups and downs. The bonds are strong, but there are the dark sides too, like rivalry, physical violence, the fear of failure....Yet, no one hollers, no one screams and ever so often, you feel a tug at your heart.

Rock On is based upon the youth genre and their relationship and friendship. Director Abhishek Kapoor has successfully given a better treatment of the film. he used the young talent skillfully and makes a entertaining movie with human sentiments. Young generation likes such movies as we saw that ppl like the last movie on youth

Arjun Rampal shows he is enough experienced to work with other naive. Perhaps his best performance since his debut. Prachi Desai was good and she has proved that she is able to work in big screen as well. She played the role of Frahan Akhtar's wife and I like her role in the movie.

Movie is a story of four people who forms a rock band and due to differences and ego clashes couldn’t carry it on but due to circumstance meet again after few year. Since this movie is from the makers of Dil Chahta Hai one can imagine some hangover and that’s what Rediff has put in there reviews. Though the movie is about four musicians , music is not central theme of the movie. Rock on is about relationships between characters and how music brings the relationship together and holds them.

Music Directors: Shankar Ehsaan Loy

Starring: Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal, Purab Kohli

Finally, pure untouched rock music seems to have arrived in Bollywood. The first ever music album of its kind, Rock On has all the ingredients required for a proper rock album and with the current scene in the film industry, these guys seem to have made a good job of it. Heavy distorted riffs, Metal tones, and trashy lyrics, the album has it all. Lets hope that the listeners are awakened to a classic music genre which still eludes India.
